Meanwhile, 1,676 more people were infected with Covid-19 in the period, which took the case count to 810,990.

The recovery count rose to 751,322 after 1,897 patients overcame the illness through treatment at home and hospital care during that time. 

As many as 15,613 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 10.73 percent.

The latest official figures put the recovery rate at 92.64 percent, while the mortality rate stands at 1.58 percent.
